I’m a naturopath, nutritionist, and proud mum. Oh, and I am a big fan of chocolate - Loving Earth or Pico dark chocolate are some of my favourites!
As a natural health practitioner, it’s my mission to support families who are searching for a balanced approach to healthy living.
My first experience with natural health was back when I developed acne as a teen. My GP didn’t really have much to offer to relieve my symptoms, so I saw a naturopath. This planted a seed for my future passion, although I didn’t know it at the time!
I have always been driven from a young age and would end up doing too much as a result! So it’s not a big surprise that I suffered burn out post glandular fever followed by chronic fatigue when I was in Year 12. After working as a beauty therapist straight out of school, I took the plunge and studied my advanced diploma of naturopathy.
Initially, I worked with a lot of skin conditions, thanks to my background in beauty. I ran a busy naturopathic clinic in a local community pharmacy and managed 3 other practitioners. For 3 years, I worked in a fertility clinic in Samford, where I had the opportunity to dive into the world of women’s health and fertility.
But it was when I had my son that I started to learn more about pregnancy, post-partum & children’s health.
For the first 3 years of my son’s life, we lived interstate from our family. I had no help or support nearby – if my son fell sick, I was down sleeping on the floor next to him in his cot. He would pick up croup and other infections from daycare, and I would use my knowledge to help him get over them as quickly and safely as possible.
Now I have options at my fingertips for the whole family if someone falls ill or has symptoms. My little boy is healthy and rarely falls sick – but on the rare occasion he does, we have options ready for whatever pops up in the middle in the night (because that is always when kids get sick, of course!)
Throughout my studies and years working as a naturopath, I’ve become aware of how much parents can do early on – throughout pre-conception, pregnancy and the first few years – to set their children up for lifelong wellbeing. The steps that you take today can have a ripple effect for years into the future! My job is to help you find the steps that have a positive influence on your child’s health.
As a mum, I am big on practical, achievable steps. When you’re busy, the last thing you need is a massive, complicated treatment plan for yourself or your child! That’s why I take complex health pathways & studies and formulate them into simple tools and strategies you can put into action.
